It is approximately 135 Kilometres from Mombasa. The beach is nice and the marine park is rich in coral gardens. It boasts variety of fish such as zebra fish, snappers, groupers,moray eels, wrasses among others.
Next to the beach is the historical cite of Vasco da Gama’s pillar. The town of Malindi dates 600 years back. It was under Portuguese influence. A sailor “Vasco da Gama” landed at the Kenyan coast in his quest to find a sea route to India. He erected the pillar as it was their culture to do so in every land they settled.
